Norma to Susannah Changeover- A day at San Francisco Opera
Some of you may know I spent a chunk of last season at San Francisco Opera. This video shows a day on stage in a changeover from Norma to Susannah- The changeover takes around 5 hours to complete and the cooperation of a small army of people and mountains of paperwork. Quite an amazing feat that still is fascinating to me even after having spent months doing it. www.sfopera.com #opera #sanfrancisco #design #inspiration #setdesign #costumedesign #lightingdesign #lighting #plan

The rest can be found on my Theatre Portfolio Page. The show, in it's second production ever, is based on the amazingly popular book series by the same name and written by author

Tucson, AZ - KOLD
Just got back from the heat of the Southwest. The station may have the “KOLD” name, but Tucson, AZ was HOT! and none of that silly “dry heat” business everyone was talks about. It’s monsoon season, so its humid enough to be uncomfortable. Thankfully most of my work kept me in the studio. KOLD-TV, the CBS affiliate in Tucson, is getting ready to debut a new set from the wonderful folks at FX Design Group. As usual, the set looks great, things went really well, and everyone at

The Value of Design
This is an interesting article from LiveDesign about the value of value engineering. Skilled Design + Skilled Craftsmen = Quality Product. Nothing comes free, so be careful how we compete; we are only hurting ourselves if we compromise too much. Good design is worth paying for!
